The Honor Code & Responsibility by Pastor Earma Brown

Gods Honor Code Part 1

The Honor Code & Responsibility

Recently, I spoke to a group of women about a season in my life where I finally came to a place where I was fed up with my own excuses and the blame game. I said, essentially, ‘Self it’s time you take responsibility for your own mistakes and yes, your own sin…No, more will I blame anyone. Father, forgive me of my mistakes and my sin in this matter. I’ve been like water in some things. It’s obvious I can’t change my stripes on my own. Help me, Father, change me,” I prayed.
You know he did. He settled me from the inside out.

The Holy Spirit has been talking about ‘responsibility a lot to the Body of Christ. So, it’s my first message back in the saddle of teaching and training armor-bearers and servant leaders. If you know anything about me, I do my best to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. There are several ways I can tell and you can tell if a message is from the flesh, the Devil or Holy Spirit. For one the doctrine of devils would not encourage you to be responsible. Secondly, our flesh doesn’t like , repentance, accountability or fessing up.

But I know you servants of God are discerning people, meaning you follow the Spirit of the Lord. And Jesus is Lord in your life because the flesh doesn’t like serving that much either. Unless, of course, it’s getting MAJOR recognition. So, you have ears to hear this word about taking up responsibility. It’s a part of God’s honor code. Varn and I
were teaching on the ‘Honor Code’ a few weeks before he fell seriously ill.

Speaking of that season, in an effort to catch up, I closed the Shield Shop for print orders for a season. It is now open, I continue to believe that Father God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost never fails or forsakes us. The GMM of Grace Covenant got 1/2 way with fulfilling back orders. I went through another financial dip. was hacked and is still down. I’m working and expecting to see that restored. With all of that in mind, I’ve said our Father God not only does not fail or forsake us but he is not a 1/2 way God either.

Instead of throwing in the towel and giving into the thoughts, no one wants to hear about this anymore. With all the courage, persistence, fortitude, bull dog tenacity and patience I’ve been preaching about lately. I take my own medicine and press onward to the high mark and calling of Christ Jesus. Therefore, I’m taking new orders and GMM is still fulfilling old ones.

Why am I saying it like that? Not because some people have been telling people and/or contacted me, accusing us of fraud. But because how can I obey the Holy Spirit and teach about ‘Responsibility and not be, to put it bluntly, responsible? I can’t. So, please if you’re one of the ones who stuck around continue praying for me, if you are one of those who trusted us with a book order thank you. May God continue in blessing you for your long-suffering.

I already know this is no ordinary life, I’m living. Therefore, I don’t take the things of God or how I treat His people, lightly.

Now, that I’ve taken care of my obedience. May I talk to you about what the Holy Spirit is saying about responsibility. Saint of God, Servant of God, Man of God, Woman of God, we seem to have a tide of children, if not a whole generation of children growing up without a right sense of responsibility. And not just the children of course, but in our society we are sorely lacking in responsibility. Not many want to take responsibility for anything. Some don’t even want to talk
about it, not to mention use it or teach it to our children.

It’s not right thinking, when the teacher stands and says, ‘Everyone gets a star or a smiley face today. Because, we don’t want anyone to feel bad about anything. We’re all the same. Yes, we’re all the same in many ways but our performances are not the same. We should be rewarded for obedience and excellent performance. Just as, we should be not-rewarded and even punished for continued disobedience. That’s how we grow. That’s how we are spurred to desire better and push ourselves
for better performance in school, in business and generally in life. It’s good for us to see someone be awarded for excellent performance. Oprah Winfrey has often said, a desire to push for excellence in her craft was born when she watched Sidney Poiter receive his Grammy for his role in ‘Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner.’ He was the only Black man or woman to receive that honor in a forty year span of American history.

Our Bible tells us, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The Master in Jesus’ talent story said, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant then promoted or demoted each one according to his level of ability.’

Webster tells us, responsible means, ‘having an obligation to do something, or having control over or care for someone, as part of one’s job or role.’ You know responsible goes hand in hand with that other r word in God’s honor code called respect. We can gain understanding from the synonyms: in charge of, in control of, at the helm of, accountable for, liable for “who is responsible for the prisons?” Or this difinitive set, also, being the primary cause of something and so able to be blamed or credited for it.
“the gene was responsible for a rare type of eye cancer” synonyms: accountable, answerable, to blame, guilty, culpable, blameworthy, at fault, in the wrong “if an error’s been made, I’m the one who’s responsible”‘
